Northern Lebanon Stays Hot, Blanks Garden Spot for Fifth Straight Win

Northern Lebanon entered Monday’s home game against Garden Spot riding a 4-game winning streak, and the Vikings only added to that momentum with an 11-0 victory in 5 innings.

After a scoreless 1st inning, Northern Lebanon broke through in the bottom of the 2nd. Four straight singles helped the Vikings build a 4-0 lead, with Sophia Roye driving in the first run of the afternoon.

The Vikings then put the game out of reach with a 7-run 4th inning. Ryleigh Hopkins delivered a triple that brought home 2 runs, Stephanie Palkovic launched a 2-run home run to left field, Addison Kubica followed with a 2-run homer of her own, and Sophia Roye added an RBI single to cap the surge.

Palkovic was dominant in the circle, striking out 13 while tossing a 2-hit shutout over 5 innings. She walked 2 and did not allow a run as she helped lead Northern Lebanon to its fifth straight win.

Northern Lebanon pounded out 15 hits in the win. Roye, Alyssa Shirey, Makenzie West, Kubica, Hopkins, and Mykenah Johnson each collected 2 hits. Hopkins went 2-for-4 and drove in a team-high 3 runs, while the Vikings also played a clean game defensively without committing an error. Johnson handled a team-high 12 chances in the field.

Garden Spot got hits from Piper Stern and Faith Craft, while Kelsey Longacre worked the complete 4 innings in the circle.

Northern Lebanon is now 5-1 and will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Manheim Central.
