Cedar Crest Gets Back in Win Column with 16-9 Victory Over Warwick
Entering Thursday’s matchup with Warwick, the Cedar Crest girls lacrosse team sat at .500 with a 2-2 record. Not only did the Falcons have a chance to move a game above the water line, they also had an opportunity to put a stop to a two-game losing streak after facing powerhouses Hempfield and Manheim Township. Cedar Crest answered the challenge, knocking off Warwick 16-9 to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Offensively, Avery Lechleitner led the way with 5 goals and 1 assist, while Bella Paquette turned in a big all-around performance with 4 goals and 4 assists. Samantha Brown added 3 goals, and Addie Fulkerson chipped in 2 goals and 1 assist as Cedar Crest’s attack kept the pressure on throughout the evening.
Also scoring for the Falcons were Star Simaska, who finished with 2 goals, as Cedar Crest spread the offense around in a balanced effort. The Falcons piled up 21 shots and controlled the action in key stretches, helping them build enough separation to close out the win.
On the defensive end, Viola Bierman made 6 saves in goal and Cedar Crest also held a major edge in draw controls, finishing with a 23-5 advantage. That extra possession battle helped the Falcons stay in command while limiting Warwick’s chances to make a serious push.
Cedar Crest is now 3-2. The Falcons will be back in action on Monday when they host Eastern York.
