Falcons Extend Win Streak to Three with Road Victory at Cocalico
With Monday’s victory over Eastern York, Cedar Crest carried a two-game winning streak into Wednesday’s road matchup at Cocalico. The Falcons kept that momentum rolling, earning a 12-7 non-league win to improve to 5-2 on the season and extend their surge to three straight victories.
Offensively, Avery Lechleitner led the way for Cedar Crest with 5 goals while also controlling 8 draws in another standout performance. Samantha Brown added 3 goals, and Addie Fulkerson and Bella Paquette each scored twice as the Falcons once again showed the firepower that has helped fuel their recent run.
Cedar Crest also moved the ball well throughout the matchup, finishing with 4 assists on its 12 goals. Lechleitner added an assist, while Fulkerson and Paquette each recorded assists as well to help the Falcons generate balanced offense on the road.
On the defensive end, Viola Bierman came up huge in goal for Cedar Crest. Bierman turned away 9 shots in the stat sheet provided, while the Falcons credited her with 11 saves on 18 shots, helping blunt Cocalico’s attack in a game where possession and timely stops played a major role. Cedar Crest limited Cocalico to 7 goals and got the kind of goaltending effort that helped steady things throughout the afternoon.
Cocalico did have some success offensively despite the loss. Melia Van Zant led the Eagles with 2 goals and 3 assists, while Emma Byrom also scored twice. Jenna Spencer, Izzy Rios, and Corinne Fair each added a goal, and Sydney Campbell chipped in an assist. In goal, Alyssa Entrekin and Maggie Weber combined to make 13 saves to help keep Cocalico within reach.
Cedar Crest is now 5-2. The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Elizabethtown.
