On Friday and Saturday, the Palmyra Boys Wrestling Team turned in a strong performance at the Solanco Mule Classic, finishing second out of twenty-nine teams. The Cougars scored 186 points as a group, trailing only tournament champion Central Dauphin.

Leading the way for Palmyra was Elijah Foltz, a sophomore at 107 pounds, who delivered a dominant showing to win the championship. Foltz won all four of his matches on the weekend, recording two pins, earning a 16–7 major decision, and then sealing the title with a commanding 21–5 technical fall in the championship round.

Other medalists included Tyler Detwiler, a senior at 139 who took second; Nicolas Gordon, a sophomore at 127 who finished third; Owen Clark, a senior at 133, and Russell Cisney, a sophomore at 114, who each placed fifth; and Aaron Andrew, a senior at 160, along with Grayson Cisney, a sophomore at 121, who both earned sixth-place finishes.

The Cougars’ success came despite several challenges that forced the team to adapt throughout the two-day event. Their starter at 145 pounds was injured and unable to compete, creating a gap in the lineup, and Andrew, battling a previous injury, was forced to forfeit two matches as a precaution. Coaches noted that while the team placed well, they did not wrestle to their full potential, letting several winnable matches slip away—bouts they emphasized must be closed out in future competitions.

Still, the overall result reflects the significant progress happening within the program. Head Coach Jon Regets praised both the achievement and the direction of the team, saying, “After years of manifestation and hard work, it’s exciting to know that Palmyra placed second only to Central Dauphin, despite not performing our best,”

Regets added, “For the last few years I’ve been talking about what’s happening at Palmyra… it’s finally here!”

The final team standings saw Central Dauphin take the championship with 245.5 points, followed by Palmyra with 186, Donegal with 175, Salesianum with 170, and Cocalico with 150, rounding out a competitive top five.
