LebCo Athlete of the Week Voting: December 15-21

 

 

Presented in coordination with Froggy Valley 100.1/WiLBuR 99.7 & Lebanon Federal Credit Union.

 

Please note that voting will be extended until Friday this week due to Thursday being Christmas.

 


 

Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action.  While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.

Voting will remain open until Friday at 10 pm.

While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.

While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.

Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.

Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor. 

The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees

Olive Brandt (Lebanon / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior continued to lead the Cedars offensively, scoring 25 points against Penn Manor and following with 20 points versus Cedar Crest. Brandt knocked down three three-pointers in each game and continues to lead Lebanon while averaging 24 points.

Qynne Demler (New Covenant / Jr.) – Basketball: The junior fueled a perfect 3-0 week for the Flames, scoring 21 points against Lititz Christian, 15 versus Our Lady of the Cross, and erupting for 31 points against Harrisburg Christian. Demler connected on five three-pointers in the finale, showcasing her scoring versatility.

Kaila Francis (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Basketball: Francis powered the Lady Falcons to a 2-1 week, averaging 14.7 points and 14 rebounds per game. Her week included an 18-point, 11-rebound performance against McCaskey and an 18-point, 19-rebound outing against Lebanon. She also averaged 3.3 blocks and shot 80% from the free throw line.

Savannah Kleinfelter (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior emerged as a key offensive option for the Dutchmen, leading the team in scoring in all three games last week. Kleinfelter averaged 10.7 points per game, highlighted by a 15-point effort against Pequea Valley.

Isabella Poole Martinez (Lebanon / Jr.) – Wrestling: The junior dominated the 100-pound bracket at the Baguba Brawl at Elizabethtown, going 4-0 to claim the championship. Her run included three pins, highlighted by a lightning-fast 20-second pin in the semifinals. Poole Martinez is now 9-1 on the season.

Leeta Sherman (Northern Lebanon / Fr.) – Bowling: The freshman led the Vikings at the SnowRoller Showdown, rolling a 506 series with a high game of 187. Sherman placed 23rd in a field of 93 bowlers as Northern Lebanon finished 8th out of 14 teams.

Gabby Zimmerman (ELCO / Jr.) – Wrestling: Zimmerman placed third at the Big Spring Invitational, going 5-1 at 106 pounds with all five victories coming by pin. She also picked up a win earlier in the week at Donegal, continuing a strong early-season showing that includes an 8-3 record.



Male Nominees

Ryan Clemmer (Northern Lebanon / So.) – Basketball: The sophomore played a key role in Northern Lebanon’s 2-1 week, contributing across the board in competitive matchups. Clemmer scored 16 points against Lancaster Country Day, added 7 points in a win over Columbia, and finished with 8 points — including two three-pointers — in a loss to Blue Mountain.

Braden Demler (New Covenant / Fr.) – Basketball: The freshman had a breakout week for the Flames, scoring 24 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in Friday night’s win over Harrisburg Christian. Demler knocked down three three-pointers in that performance and earlier in the week added 10 points in a victory over Lititz Christian, helping New Covenant extend its winning streak to three games.

Luke Grumbein (Palmyra / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior delivered two strong scoring performances, posting a career-high 22 points against Warwick while going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Grumbein also reached double figures with 15 points in a key win over Lower Dauphin.

Steven Reyes (Cedar Crest / So.) – Basketball: The sophomore delivered a strong all-around effort in Friday night’s rivalry showdown, leading the Falcons with 14 points. Reyes shot 5-of-9 from the field, connected on 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, and added 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal in the performance.

Kaden Tillison (ELCO / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior continued his scoring surge, pouring in approximately 23 points against Lampeter-Strasburg and 26 against Annville-Cleona in Raider victories. Tillison capped the week with a 32-point effort in a loss at Manheim Central, hitting nine total three-pointers over the three-game stretch as ELCO improved to 7-2.
