PIAA State Champion Travis Furmanski of Cedar Crest continued his remarkable season on Saturday, making history for his school and program. Furmanski earned a spot at the Brooks National Cross Country Championships (formerly known as Foot Locker) after finishing 4th at the Northeast Regional Qualifier with an impressive time of 15:19.

The national meet is set for Saturday, December 14, in San Diego, California, where Furmanski will represent Cedar Crest among the country’s top high school distance runners.

This achievement marks a milestone for Cedar Crest, as Furmanski becomes the first national qualifier from the school since Wendy Barrett accomplished the feat in 1986. Barrett, who now serves as an assistant coach for the Falcon Cross Country team, has been lending her expertise as Furmanski has emerged as one of the nation’s top runners.

We will be following Furmanski closely as he competes on the national stage, aiming to continue his historic run and showcase his talent against the best in the country. Good luck, Travis!
