Falcon Youth Football

Red Rose Midget Football League Age group information

@ Hempfield Black Knights

B Team (2-5)  Black Knights 18, Falcons 6

C Team (6-1) Black Knights 13, Falcons 12

D Team (2-5)  Falcons defeated Black Knights

The Cedar Crest “B” Team fell to the Hempfield Black Knights by a score of 18–6.
Despite moving the ball well in the first half, the Falcons were unable to find the end zone after a turnover and a failed 4th-and-1 attempt. The defense held strong, keeping Hempfield scoreless through the first half thanks to the efforts of Nolan Fugate, Gianni Rodriguez, and Kamar Johnson up front.

The Falcons opened the third quarter with momentum after a big play by tight end Trent Barlett, which set them up in the red zone. Two plays later, quarterback Torrence Hubbard connected with wide receiver Caden Kane for a 19-yard touchdown. However, the two-point conversion failed. From there, the Black Knights shifted to a heavy run attack, scoring on three of their next four possessions to seal the win.

The Falcon “C” Team came up just short on Sunday, falling to Hempfield 13–12, marking their first loss of the season. Despite the outcome, the Falcons dominated time of possession and were the more physical team — if not for two trick plays by Hempfield, the result could have been very different.

Boston Speece powered the offense with two rushing touchdowns as the Falcons controlled the clock on the ground. Defensively, the front line of Manny Ramirez, Jeremiah Mercado, and Zach Tropp shut down Hempfield’s running lanes, while Mason Kleinfelter was a force at middle linebacker, anchoring another strong defensive performance.

This past Sunday, the Falcon “D” Team traveled to take on the Hempfield Black Knights and took control of the game early — never looking back. Offensively, Nico Aungst led the way with four touchdowns and also connected on a 49-yard pass to Carson Mong, setting up another Aungst touchdown run.

Defensively, Owen Miller was all over the field, recording 10 solo tackles. Dylan Royer, Kaeden Flickinger, Leo Avila, and Carson Bugg all made key contributions as well. The highlight of the game came from Alec Demin, who returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown to cap off a dominant team effort.

Up Next: This Sunday, Cedar Crest will host Penn Manor at Earl Boltz Stadium.

      Myerstown Panthers

Berks Area Youth Football League Age group information

@ Muhlenberg Muhls

Midgets (2-3-1)   Bye

Mites (3-1)   Bye

Mighty Mites (2-3-1)  Myerstown 13, Muhls 8

The Myerstown Panthers Mighty Mites stayed hot this week, grinding out a hard-fought 13–8 road win over the Muhlenberg Muhls. Behind explosive runs from Gabe Vincent and Lee Keppley, plus a relentless, swarming defense, the Panthers earned their second straight victory and continued to build momentum late in the season.

The Panthers struck first in the opening quarter as Vincent broke free for a 35-yard run and then powered into the end zone for the game’s first touchdown. The defense immediately answered the call, with Alex Strasz snagging an interception to halt the Muhls’ next drive. Myerstown carried a 7–0 lead into the second quarter, and the offense kept rolling. Keppley showcased his speed and strength, slicing through the defense for a 40-yard touchdown run to extend the lead. Strasz wasn’t finished either—he added a second interception before halftime, helping the Panthers take a 13–0 advantage into the break.

The Muhls managed to find the end zone in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers’ defense stood tall when it mattered most. It was a full team effort on defense, with Thomas Keppley, Lee Keppley, Sadler Frandsen, John Rhoads, and Austin Arnold all making big tackles to shut down Muhlenberg’s offense.

With standout performances from Vincent and Keppley on offense and Strasz leading the charge on defense with two interceptions, the Mighty Mites walked away with a gritty win at Muhlenberg—proving this team is finding its rhythm and refusing to back down.

The Midget Vikings didn’t have a game this week. I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the Midget coaches, and other leaders and coaches within the NLMFA.

Coaching isn’t always easy. The work often goes unseen, and at times, it’s met with criticism. Yet they continue to show up, not for praise, but for purpose — to shape character, to build confidence, and to give kids something bigger than the game itself. The lessons learned on the field, teamwork, perseverance, and humility will echo far beyond the scoreboard.

As John Wooden once said, “A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life.” That spirit is alive and well here in Northern Lebanon.

It’s not always about the wins and the losses. It’s about the camraderie, memories built, and the life lessons that come with both winning and losing.

Thank you to the leaders of this program, especially to the following Midget coaches: Tony Miller, John Kramer, Nate Simpson, Joe Wentling, Jamie Kawski, and Dustin Hart.

– With gratitude, Coach Dave

The Smurf Vikings played in an exciting back-and-forth matchup on Sunday. The defensive line, including Carson Lutz, provided constant pressure, while key tackles from Ryker Anderson and Miles Wiest stopped several Northern drives.

On offense, the Vikings used a balanced attack that featured big runs from Trey Moyer, Cooper Wonderley, Axle Geibe, Hudson Royer, and Liam Monk to sustain long drives and fuel their success. The young Vikings now look ahead to Week 8, when they’ll take on the Central Dauphin Rams, with the 2025 Smurf Bowl coming up on October 25th!

Up Next: Northern Lebanon host the Central Dauphin Rams on Sunday afternoon.
