Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Nia Hafey (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Tennis: The junior broke Annville-Cleona’s career girls’ tennis wins record last Tuesday, earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Northern Lebanon. Hafey now sits at 66 career wins, surpassing the previous mark of 62 set in 2023, and has tallied 25 wins this season.
Miley Hopple (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Volleyball: The senior setter reached a milestone last week, recording 36 assists in a match against Penn Manor to push her career total past 500. Hopple continues to serve as a steady leader for the Falcons.
Claire Jacoby (ELCO / Sr.) – Soccer: The senior goalkeeper was a wall in net last week, posting shutouts in wins over Pequea Valley (5-0) and Conrad Weiser (2-0). Jacoby now has 9 shutouts on the season, helping the Raiders improve to 11-2.
Kenzie Long (Palmyra / Sr.) – Soccer: The senior forward scored 2 goals last week, including the game-winner in a victory over Bishop McDevitt. Long continues to be a difference-maker in the Cougars’ attack.
Emma Marlowe (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Volleyball: The senior defensive specialist led the Vikings with 17 digs in a win over Pine Grove. Marlowe’s consistency in the back row has paced Northern Lebanon to an impressive 11-2 record.
Bella Paquette (Cedar Crest / So.) – Field Hockey: The sophomore forward was relentless on attack last week, scoring 4 goals in a high-scoring loss to Hempfield before adding an assist in another section battle. Paquette’s speed and tenacity have made her one of the Falcons’ most dangerous offensive players.
Emma Stevenson (New Covenant / So.) – Soccer: The sophomore goalkeeper totaled 22 saves and earned 2 wins last week, including 2 clutch saves in overtime of a win over West Shore Christian. Stevenson’s steady play in net has helped the Flames improve to 8-2-1.
Rachel Troup (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Tennis: The senior provided leadership for a young Vikings squad and shined in last week’s 5-2 win over ELCO. Troup earned a singles win and teamed with Emily Shuey for a doubles victory, closing her career with impact performances.
Past Winner Spotlight
Devon Englehart (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Football: The junior was a force on both sides of the ball in a thrilling 42-39 win over Kutztown. Englehart rushed 12 times for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a decisive 45-yard scoring run that gave the Dutchmen the lead for good. On defense, he added 13 tackles and a forced fumble to help seal the victory.
Male Nominees
Travis McDannell (Palmyra / Sr.) – Football: The senior carried the ball 10 times for 100 yards, including an 81-yard touchdown run that accounted for Palmyra’s only score in a tough 8-6 loss at Mifflin County. On defense, McDannell added 4 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 tackles for loss, continuing to be a leader on both sides of the ball.
Gavin Meson (New Covenant / Jr.) – Soccer: The junior forward paced the Flames’ attack last week, scoring 3 goals and adding 3 assists in two matches. Meson’s offensive spark helped New Covenant to a win over Lititz Christian before a narrow loss to Lancaster County Christian.
Steven Reyes (Cedar Crest / So.) – Football: Making just his third varsity start, the sophomore quarterback led the Falcons to a 42-6 win over Reading. Reyes opened the game with a 67-yard touchdown run and finished 8-for-9 passing for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns, improving to 2-1 as a starter while Cedar Crest evened its record at 3-3.
Gavin Yeiser (ELCO / So.) – Football: The sophomore broke out in ELCO’s 44-28 homecoming win over Daniel Boone, rushing 10 times for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns. Yeiser’s explosive plays helped the Raiders improve to 2-4 as they begin their postseason push.
