Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Lily Rohrer (New Covenant / Sr.) – Soccer: The senior’s hustle, speed, and defensive pressure have been critical to the Flames’ success this season. Her relentless play helped New Covenant maintain offensive pressure and ultimately capture their second straight CCAC Championship with a double-overtime win on Saturday night. Rohrer’s leadership and heart embody the spirit of her championship team.
Emma Shirk (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Soccer: The senior striker scored four goals in a win over Oley Valley and finished the regular season as the Lancaster-Lebanon League’s top goal scorer with 30 goals and 7 assists. Shirk’s leadership and finishing ability have been central to the Dutchmen’s District 3 playoff run.
Maddie Stahl (Palmyra / So.) – Field Hockey: The sophomore midfielder found the back of the cage in both of Palmyra’s final regular-season games. She scored the equalizer in a tight 2-1 loss to powerhouse Lower Dauphin and added another goal in a 5-0 win over Red Land as the Cougars clinched the Mid Penn Keystone Division Championship.
Makenzie Wamsher (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Cross Country: The senior continued her strong season with a 3rd-place finish at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships, clocking an impressive time of 18:17.23. Wamsher’s consistency and pace have quickly made her one of the county’s top distance runners.
Reagan Zwally (ELCO / Jr.) – Cross Country: The junior placed 16th overall in the 2A field at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships, finishing in 21:41. Zwally will race in this weekend’s District 3 Championships at Big Spring. A dual-sport athlete, she also contributes to the Raider Field Hockey team.
Male Nominees
Max Frederick (ELCO / So.) – Cross Country: The sophomore delivered a standout performance at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships, running a personal-best 16:51 to place 7th overall in the 2A field. Frederick will compete at the District 3 Championships this weekend at Big Spring. He also contributes as a member of the Raider Boys Soccer team.
Zachary Margut (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Cross Country: The junior finished 13th overall at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships with a time of 16:25.15, leading a strong Falcon pack that helped Cedar Crest capture the team title. Margut’s performance supported a championship effort paced by teammate Travis Furmanski.
Jon Moran (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Football: The senior made a major impact on both sides of the ball in a 14-7 win over Schuylkill Valley. Moran ran for 118 yards and a touchdown on just six carries, including a 97-yard score that gave the Dutchmen the lead for good. He also added 10 tackles, including a goal-line stop and key 4th-down tackle, as Annville improved to 8-1.
Damion Santiago (Lebanon / Sr.) – E-Sports: In the Championship Match of the PIEA Fall Brawl LAN of Steel tournament at Robert Morris University, Santiago led a dramatic comeback for Lebanon. Entering with his team trailing 3-1, he eliminated three opponents and earned eight points to give the Cedars a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. His clutch performance sealed an undefeated season and showcased his elite competitive focus playing Super Smash Bros.
Christian Spencer (Northern Lebanon / So.) – Football: The young running back was a key part of the Vikings’ offense in a hard-fought 26-23 loss to Daniel Boone, rushing for 48 yards on 13 carries and scoring two touchdowns. Spencer’s tough running helped keep Northern Lebanon in contention until the final minutes.
