During the Week of October 6th, Palmyra senior forward Jovie Weaver continued to make an impact on the field. The senior found the back of the cage four times across three games last week, including wins over Bishop McDevitt and Boiling Springs. Weaver’s contributions helped solidify Palmyra’s position at the top of the District 3 power rankings, finishing as the #1 seed for the District 3 Playoffs. Her standout performances earned her recognition as LebCoSports Athlete of the Week.
Weaver’s steady play and leadership have been key to Palmyra’s success this season. “Jovie is one of our captains and provides great leadership from her forward position,” said Coach Kent Harshman. “She is one of our ‘go-to’ scorers and plays tenacious defense as well when we need that from her.”
“She has been a valuable varsity player for four years,” Harshman continued. “I’m very happy to see her having a great season and receiving this kind of recognition in her senior year. She is very deserving!”
When asked about her recent performance, Weaver said, “I have been playing my role on the team and together we are winning games and getting what needs done done.”

She credits her parents for their support throughout her career and draws inspiration from their own athletic backgrounds—her mom played field hockey at UConn and her dad pitched for Maryland.
Looking ahead, she plans to join her parents in the collegiate athletic ranks when she attends Syracuse University where she plans to major in broadcasting and journalism. While her future is bright, Weaver remains focused on finishing what she started with Palmyra, determined to help the Cougars achieve their postseason goals.
Speaking of the postseason, the Palmyra Cougars began their journey on Tuesday night with a 9-0 victory over visiting Spring Grove. Once again, Weaver proved to be a huge piece of the offensive attack, accounting for three goals.
Congratulations to Jovie and best of luck to her and the Cougars as they battle through the playoffs with their sights set on a State Championship.
