Golf: LL Section 1 – Falcons Rebound at Fairview, Close Gap on Township

Playing on their home course at Fairview Golf Course on Thursday, the Cedar Crest Falcons came in determined to rebound after falling to Manheim Township earlier in the week at Fox Chase. With the Section 1 title race tightening, the Falcons responded in a big way, posting a team score of 293 to finish well ahead of Township’s 305.

On the par 71 course, Cedar Crest was powered by seniors Carson DiBiaso (71) and Dylan Ramsey (72). Ramsey thrilled the home crowd with four consecutive birdies on the front nine, while DiBiaso steadied the lineup with the team’s best round of the day. They were joined by Bryn Brandt (74), Davin Kolter (76), Jackson Seidel (77), and Rory Smyth (79), giving the Falcons six of the Top 11 finishers on the day.

Brandt, a freshman female put forth another impressive rough of golf, but was not alone on the leaderboard as a pair of dominant performances landed females 1-2 atop the leaderboard. Ephrata’s Makenna Heckman claimed medalist honors with a 69 (-2), while Warwick’s Piper Smith followed closely behind with a 70 (-1). Their outstanding play highlighted the continued rise of girls in the Lancaster-Lebanon League golf ranks.

With the win, Cedar Crest pulled closer to Manheim Township, which still holds a one-match advantage in the Section 1 standings. The race will be decided on September 16th at Conestoga Country Club, Penn Manor’s home course, where both teams will battle for Section 1 supremacy.
