After being rained out on Thursday, the Mid Penn Golf Championship was held Friday at Range End Golf Club in Dillsburg. Twelve boys teams competed in the AAA division, including the Palmyra Cougars. The event not only determined the top golfers and teams in the Mid Penn Conference, but also served as a qualifier for the District 3 Championships in October.

On the boys side, Carson Hummer of Hershey stole the spotlight, finishing with an even-par 71 after an impressive eagle on the par-5 17th hole. Following Hummer, the next four spots were claimed by State College, which secured the team championship.

The Palmyra boys finished in a tie for third place behind State College and Hershey. Everett Morgan shot 78 (+7), Brady Hughes 79 (+8), Ajay Horowitz 80 (+9), and Alex Irwin 82 (+11). Morgan and Hughes made the cut for District 3 qualification, while Horowitz narrowly missed out in a playoff scenario.

On the girls side, 25 golfers competed in the AAA division, including Marissa Battistelli from Palmyra. She shot 101 (+30), earning a 15th-place finish on the leaderboard and securing a District qualification. The overall girls competition was won by Kaydee Beckenbaugh of Shippensburg, who finished with a 77 (+6).

The District 3 Golf Championships will begin on October 2nd at Honey Run Golf Club, where top performers from the Mid Penn will compete for further honors.
