The Cedar Crest golf team kicked off its 2025 campaign looking to defend its Section 1 title, and the Falcons made a strong statement with a second-place finish in the season-opening match at Overlook Golf Course—home of Manheim Township.

Facing off against a deep field on Township’s turf, Cedar Crest posted a team score of 300, just seven strokes behind host Blue Streaks, who finished atop the leaderboard with a 293.

Leading the way for the Falcons was Dylan Ramsey, carding an impressive 69 (-1) to finish second overall, just one shot behind Township’s Joe Bilson, who took medalist honors with a 68 (-2). Ramsey’s round featured a steady mix of birdies and pars, putting him in contention throughout the day.

Carson DiBiaso added a 73 (+3) for Cedar Crest, while freshman Bryn Brandt made a strong debut in her first varsity match. Brandt shot a 78 (+8), placing third on the team and 10th overall, showcasing poise well beyond her years to finish first among a talented field of female golfers.

Drew Gebhard rounded out the scoring with a 80, helping the Falcons stay ahead of third-place Ephrata (309).

On the individual side, the match came down to a tight battle at the top, with Bilson edging out Ramsey by a single stroke. Ian Huber (MT) also shot a 69, tying Ramsey for second, giving the Blue Streaks the edge they needed to secure the win on their home course.

Cedar Crest will look to bounce back and even the season standings when they host the next Section 1 match this Thursday at Fairview Golf Course. With their strong start and home-course advantage up next, the Falcons are poised to make another title push.
