Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week. Linked below are the articles about our most recent winners of the award.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
One vote per email address, per day will be allowed.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.

Female Nominees
Annville-Cleona Sprint Relay Team (Annville-Cleona) –Track & Field: The team of Sophia Caporaletti, Jada Morales, Miracle Hershey, and Kendall Cooper won two medals at the PIAA Track & Field Championships. They finished 2nd in the 4x100m, running a time of 48.46. The foursome then closed out the meet with a 7th-place finish in the 4x400m (4:05.42).
Kaddel Howard (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Track & Field: The junior is now three-for-three in winning gold at the PIAA Track & Field Championships. Howard ran a blistering 53.12 in Friday’s prelims before returning on Saturday to once again shut down all challengers, winning with a time of 54.37. The next closest competitor finished 1.5 seconds behind, as Howard successfully defended her quarter-mile crown.
Morgan Wilson (ELCO / Sr.) – Softball: ELCO’s senior captain did whatever it took to help her team this season, whether it was playing catcher or patrolling the outfield. Offensively, Wilson was a consistent bat in the three-hole. Her efforts helped lead ELCO to a 16-6 record and the program’s first District Playoff victory since 2009.

Male Nominees
Jacob Burgess (Palmyra / Sr.) – Track & Field: The senior placed 7th in the AAA long jump with a top leap of 22’11.5”. He also joined teammates Travis McDannell, Landon Weldon, and Tyler Burgess in the 4x100m relay, where they claimed 3rd place with a time of 41.68. His contributions helped Palmyra secure a 2nd-place finish in the AAA team standings.
Tyler Burgess (Palmyra / Sr.) – Track & Field: The senior capped off his legendary high school career by winning two gold medals at the PIAA Track & Field Championships, repeating as the champion in both hurdle events. Burgess broke the State Record in the 110m high hurdles during the prelims and then broke it again in the finals (13.63). He also won the 300m intermediate hurdles (36.99). Additionally, Burgess helped the 4x100m relay team—featuring Travis McDannell, Landon Weldon, and Jacob Burgess—earn a bronze medal with a time of 41.68. Palmyra finished 2nd in the AAA team standings.
David Moran (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Track & Field: At the PIAA Track & Field Championships, the junior ran an aggressive race to become the AA State Champion in the 800m (1:56.17). Earlier on Saturday, he anchored the 4x800m relay team—composed of Landon Hostetter, Matt Clemson, and Dominic Basselgia—which finished 5th with a time of 8:05.43. Moran’s split in the relay was an impressive 1:55.34.
Cameron Tirado (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Track & Field: The junior soared to clear 6’6” in the High Jump at the PIAA Track & Field Championships, earning him 7th place in the AAA division.
