Katelyn Brenner
Cedar Crest Girls Lacrosse won its first two games by a combined score of 35-8. In the season-opening win over Garden Spot, Katelyn Brenner led the way with 5 goals and 2 assists. Then, in a 20-0 romp over Conrad Weiser, the junior attacker added 2 goals and 3 assists. These combined performances caught the attention of our voters, who selected Brenner as the Spring season’s first LebCo Female Athlete of the Week.
Brenner puts one in the net
Last week, the Falcons added another victory over Daniel Boone to run their record to 3-0. Brenner added 3 more goals, along with assisting on another. Each of the wins so far this season will be important for Cedar Crest’s postseason hopes, something Brenner has set as a goal.
When asked about her role on the team, Brenner told LebCoSports.com, “I hope to be a continuous scorer on attack and show consistent effort to hopefully lead us into Districts alongside the other very talented girls on the team that I play beside every day.”
Brenner’s scoring prowess is not a recent development. Last season, as a sophomore, she was recognized as a Lancaster Lebanon League 2nd Team All-Star for her outstanding performance as a midfielder. She attributes her growth to the belief and support of Coach Tony Sinico, who played a pivotal role in her development. Under the guidance of a new coach, Brenner’s trajectory continues to ascend, promising a bright future for Cedar Crest Girls Lacrosse.
Head Coach Jeanine Snyder, who took over for Sinico when he left to become Lebanon’s Athletic Director, had high praise for Brenner: “Katelyn is a natural when it comes to lacrosse. She has so much talent in the sport, which keeps growing through her hard work as an attacking player. Katelyn is a versatile player, and I am using her this season as an attack player. She can also take draws and play midfield. As a junior, I only expect her to develop into a stronger lacrosse player and become a leader for Cedar Crest lacrosse.”

Brenner would eventually like to continue playing at the collegiate level. While she still has time to decide where she will study, she already knows that she would like to pursue a medical career and is interested in neonatal care.
For now, we wish Katelyn and her teammates all the best as they battle through their 2024 schedule.
