LebCo Athlete of the Week Voting: September 15 – 21 (Member’s Only)

Presented in coordination with Froggy Valley 100.1/WiLBuR 99.7 & Lebanon Federal Credit Union.

Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action.  While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.

Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.

While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.

While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.

Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.

Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor. 

The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees

Haydn Boyer (ELCO / Jr.) – Soccer: The junior came up clutch for the Raiders, scoring a free kick in double overtime to beat Northern Lebanon and adding the opener in a 2-0 win at Donegal. Boyer’s timely goals helped ELCO improve to 9-2.

Jezauni Hernandez (Lebanon / Jr.) – Field Hockey: The junior scored Lebanon’s first goal of the season in a match against CD East and anchored the Cedars’ defense. Hernandez also carried the ball effectively into transition and provided vocal leadership for her younger teammates.

Emma Shirk (Annville-Cleona / So.) – Soccer: The sophomore erupted for 11 goals and 1 assist in three Dutchmen wins, including five goals each against Lebanon and McCaskey. Shirk now has 16 goals this season as Annville has won 6 of its last 7 games.

Carly Walborn (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Soccer: The senior anchored the Viking defense, limiting ELCO to one overtime goal before shutting out Pequea Valley in a 2-0 victory. Walborn’s leadership was key to both results.

Makenzie Wamsher (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Cross Country: The senior placed 6th in the AAA girls’ race at the Ben Bloser Invitational, completing the 5k course in 19:06.36. Wamsher’s steady performance highlighted her consistency against elite competition.

Jovie Weaver (Palmyra / Sr.) – Field Hockey: The senior tallied 3 goals and 2 assists across three games. Weaver scored and assisted in a win over First Colonial at the Max Field Hockey Showcase and added another goal in an overtime battle with Camden Catholic.

Laney Zimmerman (New Covenant / Sr.) – Soccer: The senior anchored the Flames’ defense while also scoring 2 goals. Zimmerman’s two-way effort helped New Covenant earn wins over Oley Valley and Harrisburg Christian, improving to 5-2-1.

Male Nominees

Benjamin Allwein (Annville-Cleona / Fr.) – Golf: The freshman shot a four-under-par 66 in the Section 4 finale at Honeybrook, finishing first in all six matches this season. Allwein, along with teammate Logan Francis, led Section 4 as the top two golfers.

Alex Csongradi (Palmyra / Jr.) – Football: The junior made key contributions in a 9-7 win at Waynesboro, including punt returns that set up both Cougar scores. Csongradi also had a 15-yard reception on third down and a 43-yard run to seal the victory late.

Travis Furmanski (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Cross Country: The senior ran 16:17.4 to place 4th at the prestigious PIAA Foundation Invitational. Furmanski’s effort against elite competition showed he can contend with the best in the state.

Jevan Marquette (ELCO / So.) – Soccer: The sophomore tallied 7 goals and 2 assists in three Raider wins, including a 4-goal performance against Northern Lebanon. Marquette’s breakout week helped ELCO improve to 7-3.

Gavin Meson (New Covenant / Jr.) – Soccer: The junior continued to drive the Flames’ attack, scoring once and assisting twice in narrow one-goal losses to Ephrata Mennonite and Lancaster County Christian. Meson’s playmaking kept New Covenant competitive.

Thad Raub (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Cross Country: The senior finished 18th at the Ben Bloser Invitational with a time of 17:29.46. Raub, along with teammates Luke Hentz (10th) and Anthony Frederick (20th), helped the Vikings place 4th in the AA team standings.
