Presented in coordination with Froggy Valley 100.1/WiLBuR 99.7 & Lebanon Federal Credit Union, help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week. Linked below are the articles about our most recent winners of the award.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
One vote per email address, per day will be allowed.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.

Female Nominees
Eleanor Brower (Palmyra / So.) – Swimming: The sophomore has continued to set new personal records this season and recently dropped over ten seconds in the 500 yd Free. Against Gettysburg on December 17th, Brower won two individual events and two relays. In helping the team win the relays, she swam her best sprint times of the year. Then, against Hershey on January 2nd, she took 1st in the 200 yd Free before finishing 2nd while competing in the 500 yd Free.
Kailah Correa (Lebanon / Sr.) – Basketball: Over the past three weeks, the Cedars have gone 5-2, including wins over Palmyra and Northern Lebanon to take the Lebanon Holiday Tournament Championship. In those seven games against a number of postseason contenders, the senior has averaged 20.6 points per contest. Though often not the team’s leading scorer, Correa has used her talents to elevate her teammates in order to help the team find victory. For the season, she is averaging 18.9 points,4.5 assists, and 2.7 steals.
Qynne Demler (New Covenant / So.) – Basketball: Over the past three weeks, the Flames went 3-0, with Demler leading the offensive output. While averaging over 20 points per game, the highlight came when she put together a 31 point, 5 steal, 4 rebound game against West Shore Christian. Through eight games, Demler is averaging 24.9 points. The Flames are 7-1.
Kenzie Eckhart (ELCO / Jr.) – Basketball: The senior has been a scoring machine in recent weeks, averaging nearly 20 points per game. In the Pine Grove Holiday Tournament Championship game, Eckhart scored 27 to lead the Lady Raiders to victory. Following another win over Pottsville last Friday night, ELCO’s record currently stands at 8-3.
Lily Harchuska (Cedar Crest / Fr.) – Wrestling: Competing at 136 pounds, the freshman was crowned champion at Elizabethtown’s BAGUBA Tournament on December 21st. She finished 4-0, pinning a wrestler from North Penn in the finals. At the Penn Manor New Year’s Eve Tournament, Harchuska went 5-1 but was limited to a 6th-place finish due to a match limit. In the two tournaments, she went 9-1 with three pins and two podium finishes.
Maddie Stout (ELCO / Jr.) – Basketball: The junior has been lighting up the scoreboard as of late, registering an average of 19.3 points over ELCO’s last three games, all of which were victories. This streak of wins, which puts the Lady Raiders at 8-3, included winning the Pine Grove Holiday Tournament.
Male Nominees
Alex Chavarria (Lebanon / So.) – Wrestling: At the Cedar Duals, Chavarria was matched up against a visually impaired opponent. Though Chavarria lost in the modified match, he showed incredible sportsmanship by guiding the young man back to his side and giving him a hug before they parted ways.
Sam Gladysz (Palmyra / Jr.) – Swimming: The junior has continued to improve upon his efforts from last year, which carried him to Districts. In a December 17th meet against Gettysburg, Gladysz won the 200 yd Free & 500 yd Free while contributing to two relay victories. Then, on January 2nd against Hershey, he won the 100 yd Fly and took 2nd in the 100 yd Breast. While a team leader for the Cougars, Gladysz works daily to be his very best, both in and out of the pool.
Alex Hart (New Covenant / Fr.) – Basketball: The freshman has continued to be the main thrust of the Flames’ offense. In the last four games, during which New Covenant went 2-2, Hart averaged 12.3 points. This was highlighted by an 18 point, 8 rebound, 4 steal game in what ended up being a tight loss to Millersburg. Through ten games, the Flames are 5-5, with Hart averaging 10.8 points per game.
Kane Kline (ELCO / Fr.) – Wrestling: The freshman has had an impressive start to his varsity career. Kline is currently 21-3 and finished as the 114-pound runner-up at the Chambersburg Trojan Wars, defeating a state qualifier on his way to the finals.
Landyn Kline (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Wrestling: At the Grizzly Duals, Kline went 3-0, winning each of his matches by pinning his opponents. This followed his effort at the Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament, where the junior went 3-2 and was stopped just short of medal contention. Kline is now 8-4 this season.
Riley Messinger (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Basketball: In the last five games for the Vikings, the senior guard has registered double-digit points in four of those games. In that stretch, Messinger has averaged 12.6 points per game. He scored 16 points three times, highlighted by the team’s huge 77-38 win over Biglerville in the Holiday Tournament hosted by Northern Lebanon.
Jaxon Speece (Annville-Cleona / So.) – Wrestling: The sophomore went 7-1 over the course of two different events over the holidays. Wrestling at 285 pounds, Speece helped Annville finish 2nd at the Newport Holiday Tournament. Then, at the Line Mountain Duals, where he went 6-0, Speece found victory in the final match of a showdown against Wyalusing to give the Dutchmen the 36-34 win. His individual season record is now 10-2.
